Who are we?
Cara Nova, officially known as Cara Nova o Maria, is a Catholic charismatic prayer group founded in 1975. Cara Nova means "New Face."

Since August 2025, we have been working with the International Charismatic Renewal. We pray and sing in both Dutch and English.
We are a charismatic prayer group. In other words, we give special place to the Holy Spirit and always begin our gatherings with laudation. In addition there is a different activity each week of the month: Eucharist, prayer based on Bible verses, or a formation, testimony, or film evening.
We warmly welcome everyone who wishes to join us in faith and fellowship.
For whom?
Our prayer group is aimed at (young) adults.
What is KCV ?
KCV stands for Catholic Charismatic Renewal. Pope Francis called the Charismatic Renewal a "current of grace." There is no specific founder. You could say the Holy Spirit himself took the initiative.
It all began in 1967 when a group of Catholic students at Duquesne University in the United States claimed to be "filled with the Holy Spirit" during a prayer service and received the gifts of the Holy Spirit that Paul describes in his letters to the Corinthians and Rome. These gifts, as Paul says, are intended for the edification of the Church. Through these students' experiences, the Holy Spirit has been somewhat rediscovered in the Catholic Church, as He had been forgotten, even though Jesus explicitly speaks of the importance of the Holy Spirit.
After this remarkable event, the Charismatic Renewal emerged. Charismatic prayer groups and communities exist worldwide.
Recently, these various groups have been collaborating regularly for certain events, as requested by Pope Francis. We call this collaboration Charis. Through Charis, we seek to grow in unity and share the gifts of the Spirit .
